Gloria Marie Steinem, born in Toledo, Ohio in 1934, was a columnist for New York magazine, and a co-founder of Ms. magazine. She also was an avid political activist and spokeswoman for the American feminist movement in the late 1960’s and the early part of the 1970’s. Steinem made significant strides for women in the United States and all over the world.
