Joanne Rowling, born in England in 1965, is better known by her pen name J. K. Rowling. Rowling is globally known as a philanthropist and author of the Harry Potter Series. The fantasy collection has won many awards and has sold over 500 million copies. Harry Potter is the best selling book series in history. It has been reported that J. K. Rowling could easily be called a billionaire, except she gives away much of her earnings to charity. She has supported several charities, including Comic Relief, One Parent Families, and Multiple Sclerosis Society and her own charity, Lumos.
