Jane Austen was a novelist born in England in 1775. Her most well known published novels were Sense and Sensibility in 1811, Pride and Prejudice in 1813, Mansfield Park in 1814, and Emma in 1816. In 1833 her classic novels were republished in a series set and illustrated by Ferdinand Pickering. The set slowly became popular worldwide. More than fifty years after her death, Jane’s nephew published A Memoir of Jane Austen, which told the story of her successful writing career. Many of Austen’s books went on to become motion pictures. Jane died in 1817.
