Mother Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu was born in 1910 in North Macedonia. She was a Roman Catholic nun and missionary who lived in Ireland, then India, where she lived her remaining life. Teresa established and ran Missionaries of Charity which managed homes for people who were dying of AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis. In the Catholic Church, she is honored with the holy title of “Saint Teresa of Calcutta”. She took a vow to give “wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor. She died in 1997.
