Louisa May Alcott was born in 1832 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Louisa was an American novelist, short story writer and poet best known for writing the novel Little Women. Besides being a proli c writer, Miss Alcott was an abolitionist and a feminist who never married or had children. She spent her life active in reform movements such as temperance and women's su rage. Alcott is quoted as saying "I wish I was rich, I was good, and we were all a happy family this day" and her focus in life was not to be poor. Louisa died at the age of 55 of a stroke in Boston.
