Madam C J Walker

Madam C. J. Walker was born in Delta, Louisiana.  She was an African American entrepreneur, philanthropist, and political and social activist.  She made her fortune by developing and selling cosmetics and hair care products for black women.  Walker became one of the 20th century’s most successful, self-made women entrepreneurs.  In 1993, she was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls, New York
