Coretta Scott King  was born in Heiberger, Alabama.  Coretta was married to Martin Luther King Jr. until his assignation.  She was an American author.  Coretta advocated for African American equality and was a leader for the civil rights movement in the 1960s.  Coretta was a singer and used her musical background to aid in advocating for civil rights.  She has been referred to as the “First Lady of the Civil Rights Movement”.
