Amanda S. C. Gorman was born in 1998 in Los Angeles. Amanda is a National Youth Poet Laureate and Civil Activist. In 2021 she read her poem “The Hill We Climb” at the inauguration of U.S. President Joseph Biden. Gorman has an auditory processing disorder and had a speech impediment during childhood. Rather than look at her physical limitations as obstacles, she looked at them as opportunities to grow. This dynamic young woman has been quoted saying she wants to run for president in 2036.
